Children acquire a lot of knowledge when they experience learning through music, cooking, exploring, building and creating!
And throughout this week we’ll be doing just that, because we’re celebrating the week of the Young Child! Please be inspired by the activities below!

Music Monday! 3 children playing musical instruments | Music for kids, Free clip art

Let your children dig out your pots and pans themselves, this is half the fun!
Choose some utensils to play with, again, let your child pick them out. 
You can also grab a wooden spoon and a plastic cups. Making sure to have a few different materials to bang the pots with: metal, plastic, rubber, and wood.

You can try many different ways of pounding:

-Do the different utensils sound different?
-Does is sound different if the pots are upside down?
-What if you stack them on top of each other? 
-What about with your bare hands? Can they make noise?

Let's make some green eggs and ham:

Supplies:
  • 6 Hard-boiled Eggs
  • Avocado (Small-Medium size)
  • 2 Tbsp Mayo
  • 1 Tbsp Lime Juice
  • Salt to taste
  • Sliced Deli Meat Ham
  • Green Food Coloring
  • Toothpicks

Make a Box Road with your child
You can use a box, poster paper or the floor for this one!

Grab whichever one you're working with, then draw a simple, not fancy, and not expertly done road on the cardboard.

Acrylic Paint Nature Sun Prints (This is one they'll love!)


Craftiments:  Learn how to make faux sun prints on fabric using regular acrylic craft paint

Materials
  • white 100% cotton fabric
  • acrylic craft paints or finger paint (darker colors work best)
  • paint brushes
  • water
  • a tarp or plastic trash bag
  • flowers, leaves, etc.

Directions

Gather your supplies and head outdoors on a warm, sunny day. Spread out a tarp or plastic bag to protect your driveway. Wet the fabric, squeezing it out just enough that it no longer drips, and lay it flat on the tarp. Thin the paints about 1:1 with water.
