Preschool Earth Day Weekly Plan April 20th - 24th, 2020

Monday 20th

Circle Time: 

-Watch and listen to the story

-Review the alphabet
-Sing the letter -Gg song



Academic Activity:
-Gg is for grass!
Letter G Craft - Toddler/Preshooler letter of the week craft G is for Grass with related craft, tracing sheets and fruits/vegetables.

Supplies Needed:

  • Brown Craft Paper
  • Green letter "G" cutout
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Grass Shoots

Set Up:

Walk outside together and gather some grass shoots. Then cut out your letter -G, have your child put glue on it. Cut the very long grass shoots into shorter pieces, and put them into the glue. 

Finish up by talking a little bit about plants and different things that grow like grass, trees, and flowers.

Materials needed:
Directions:
To begin you’ll want to blow up your balloon and tie it. Please make sure it's a good size for your child to grasp onto, you can blow it up small.

Then squirt some of your green paint and your blue paint onto a paper plate, this way it’s easy to clean up.
Then as they take the balloon and stamp it onto the card stock paper the colors start to swirl together.  
Another fun way to do this craft is to add different colors and create the whole solar system using balloon stamping!

Tuesday 21st
Circle Time: 
-Practice the alphabet

Academic Activity:
-Can you make your name?
For this activity you can use paper, bottle caps, spoons, shells etc...
The picture is a guideline to help you set up an invitation for your child.
After you've set it up, explain what he/she will be doing. Students will make their name using: paper, objects and play-dough as shown in the picture.

Sensorial Activity:

ICE CREAM CONE SEEDLING GARDEN

You will need the following supplies:
  • Ice cream cones – the cheapest cake cones you can find!
  • Soil
  • Seedlings or tiny flowers
  • Shovel
  • Scissors 
  • (Optional) Fertilizer

Wednesday 22nd

~toilet rolls,
~branches/sticks,
~board/cardboard,
~glue
~marker/crayon etc

This week #7 is our focus, you can make the rolls up to #7 or #10.
*You can also use cans instead of toilet paper rolls.

Thursday 23rd

This activity will be in the packet that we're giving out at school. It's a fun way for students to practice their name, they'll recognize the letter's in their name and letter order. They love this!

Friday 24th
Circle Time:

Academic Activity:
Materials
  • Tissue box
  • Craft paper
  • Giant Sharpie or other marker
  • Construction paper
  • Do-a-Dot markers or finger paint
ROLL & CROSS: What a fun and easy math game for kids of all ages! This is a perfect number recognition and counting game for toddlers and preschoolers. They will love playing with this homemade dice and racing to cross out the numbers!

Sensorial Activity:
Digging for Worms Sensory Play is part of Sensory play, 
Materials: soil from the garden, a large container or tray and cooked spaghetti (left overs are great!) You can also use tweezers for the added fun and development of fine motor skills but this is optional, slightly hide the spaghetti worms on the top.
